ABIC push for immigration reforms undeterred despite Senate Parliamentarian’s opinion that proposed pathways to citizenship for DACA and TPS recipients, farmworkers and essential workers cannot be included in the upcoming budget reconciliation bill.

DALLAS, TX — Today, September 23, U.S. Reps. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX-30), Colin Allred (D-TX-32), and Marc Veasey D-TX-33) will participate with Dallas business leaders, University of Texas at Dallas President Richard Benson, and DACA & TPS recipients and entrepreneurs at a press conference hosted by the American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) to highlight the critical contributions that immigrants make to Dallas’ economy and next steps towards immigration solutions.

Like many cities across the nation, Dallas is facing worker shortages. At the same time, the Dallas-Ft. Worth metro area’s 1.5 million immigrants, 575,000 of whom are undocumented and 40,965 of whom are entrepreneurs, are an integral and critical part of the region’s economy, which stands to lose billions without a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients, TPS holders, and essential workers.

Passing these common sense immigration solutions is crucial to boost the Dallas economy, create jobs, ease the labor shortage, and support families.
