Immigration & Workforce — Policy on Tap

Presented by the Asheville Chamber of Commerce and the American Business Immigration Coalition

Thank you for joining us this evening for Policy On Tap and our panel discussion on the importance of immigration to our workforce.

The American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) is a bipartisan coalition of 1,500+ diverse businesses and business associations which provides a strong and effective voice seeking sensible immigration reforms to grow our economy, create jobs, ease the labor shortage, and strengthen families.

ABIC Carolinas, led by State Director Yahel Flores, engages hundreds of leaders of business, education, advocacy, and philanthropy, contributing their voice and support to our campaigns to win policies and protections that benefit all Carolinians.

Our Key Partners include:

  • Replacements, Ltd. – McLeansville, NC
  • Ric Elias – CEO of Red Ventures
  • Novant Health – Winston-Salem, NC
  • Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce – Asheville, NC
  • John Oswald, business leader – Asheville, NC
  • Tri-Hishtil – Mills River, NC
  • Isabela Lujan – Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage Realty
  • And many more

One of ABIC’s current national initiatives, which has tremendous potential to help alleviate the labor shortages faced by North Carolina industries, is our Here To Work campaign. We and more than 70 partners are urging the Biden Administration to allow state governments to request work permits for new migrants as well as long-term undocumented immigrants already in the U.S. This solution would address labor shortages, help bring down inflation, and provide work permits to immigrants who have long contributed to our economy.

Our sign-on letter already has 130 signatures from business leaders across the country. Read the letter here and add your name if you would like to show your support!
